8:20pm            Talk 2: 照出"潮"生活

by Hsu Mei Mei Anita - an engineer of Nano and Advanced Materials Institute Limited (NAMI)

In smart city, electronic devices are able to connect together by internet of things (IoTs). LED lighting, being an important part of our daily life, also find its special features in different areas, such as grow light system equipped with smart monitoring function and spectral changing feature; high CRI LED lighting to improve food presentation; specially designed wavelength in cosmetic lighting for the treatment of scar, acne and aging skin; sleep light to release your stress and wake up light to give you a warm morning.

Based on the expertise in formulation development and developing new light emitting materials, NAMI has successfully integrated the special designed materials into LED for different applications.

Anita Hsu graduated with a master degree in Analytical Chemistry from the Hong Kong Baptist University. Currently, she works as an engineer in Electronics Sector at Nano and Advanced Materials Institute Limited (NAMI), focusing on the development of high CRI museum lighting and grow light for indoor and hydroponic farming. Recently, the project of high CRI museum lighting was awarded in the 46th International Exhibition of Inventions Geneva with gold medal.

8:40 pm            Talk 3: Biomedical Engineering & Exoskeleton Robotics from the University Innovation to Clinical Use

by   Raymond Tong, Professor and Chairman, Department of Biomedical Engineering (CUHK)

With increasing number of global aging population, paired with home-based healthcare and rehabilitation, as well as biomedical engineering, healthcare technology seems like an integral part of the future medicine. The Hong Kong Government also focused innovation to form two clusters on Healthcare, Robotics &AI. Robotics is defined as a field of engineering that deals with machines. Exoskeleton robotics for stroke rehabilitaion and its clinical application have attracted medical device company to lanuch the product from the university research to the market.

Prof Raymond Tong’s research interests include Rehabilitation Robotics (e.g. Hand of Hope), Brain-Computer Control Interface (BCI), Neural Engineering, Functional Electrical Stimulation(FES) and Cognitive Assessment Software. His research, innovation and service have received Awardee of the 2013 Hong Kong Ten Outstanding Young Persons; the Grand Prix Award(the highest honor) of the International Exhibition of Inventions of Geneva 2012; Winner Award(e-Health) in the Asia Pacific ICT Award 2012; and HKIE innovation awards for young members(2008), gold awards in international invention exhibitions (04’, 07’,10’,15’ &16’).

9:00pm            Talk 4: Medical-grade Wearable for Sleep Health

by Dr Ryan Chung, SVP of Belun technology (2018 ICT Award Winner)

Sleep monitors and fitness trackers provide us new insights about how well we rest, and offer personalised tips on how to better sleep. However, there are always doubts that whether the measurement results meet clinical standards and can be used by physicians. In this talk, we are going to introduce a ring and a wearable platform with medical-grade accuracy that allow users to measure their overnight heart rate, heart rate variability, pulse oximetry and motion comfortably at home. A sleep report summarizing the sleep health statistics including risk of having obstructive sleep apnea, mental stress, high/low pulse oximetry, high/low heart rate will be generated automatically.

Dr. Ryan Chung is Senior Vice President of Belun Technology, which is focused on medical-grade wearable solution in sleep health, respiratory, psychiatry and cardiovascular diseases. Prior to joining Belun, he served as Director of Strategy and Business Development at the ASTRI, where he was responsible for strategic collaboration, commercialization, and facilitated spin-off formation. Dr. Chung received his Doctor of Business Administration from City University of Hong Kong. He also holds a M.S.C. degree in Strategic Marketing from The Leicester Business School in UK.
